Fall Must-Have: A Fitted Midi Dress and Layers

Hello, Chicsters! It’s been a while since my last post and I’ve truly missed you all. Hope everyone enjoyed the last few weeks of summer…I know I certainly did and you’ll be seeing posts soon enough (insert drum rolls). Many people dread the end of summer. I, on the other hand, embrace it. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, as there’s so many things to look forward to. Crisp air, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween and outfit layering. While you cannot pull off a short summer dress by itself, a midi dress paired with tights and a blazer can easily be your Fall uniform.

Fall and Spring are two seasons during which my closet is the most crowded. The reason being that I can’t put anything away. Instead of changing my entire wardrobe, I layer random items to create a brand new look. Sometimes things that you think would clash work the best together. Hence, my advice is to experiment to your heart’s content! There’s no right or wrong in fashion. If you want to layer bright blue stockings with a pink turtleneck and a red skirt, do it. Chances are you’d turn a few heads, at the very least.

For my look, I stuck to a few basic colors. The Fall scientist has not emerged in its entirety, so I’m taking it slow. I picked this midi dress since it reminded me of Summer (must be the flowers) but was a perfect length for Fall. I paired it with simple black tights and a black blazer. Desperately requiring a pop of color, I wore my yellow cap toe pumps.

Without a doubt, a fitted blazer is a wardrobe staple. It will last you years if handled with care and will transform any outfit into a Fall chic ensemble. Other such items are: berets, leggings and leather jackets. These small items make a world of a difference while layering. Do you have a go-to item for Fall?

    1. Thanks so much! I try to minimize the amount of time I’m wearing heels, especially while walking through the city so unfortunately, I don’t wear them as much as I’d like to
